Come help us celebrate 30 years of German Fest! We’ve come a long way since 1981 – what better way to celebrate than offering $3 admission (our 1981 gate price) on Friday from 4:30-6:00 pm, adding new and exciting attractions, and bringing back some German Fest favorites (like the Glockenspiel and the Maibaum)?

Wednesday, July 21 - German Fest Third Street HAUS Party
Join us on Wednesday, July 21, at the German Fest Third Street HAUS Party, a kickoff to German Fest on Milwaukee’s downtown Third Street from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.! Open to the public, this street festival offers a chance to meet and enjoy music from our 30th Anniversary German Fest Showcase Performers and Biba & die Butzemänner, along with traditional German food and beverages. The festival takes place on Old World Third Street, between State and Highland. Sponsored by Mader’s, Usinger’s and German Fest.

Fireworks will fill the sky all four nights of German Fest!
Popular Glockenspiel Returns
The popular German Fest Glockenspiel is a life-sized replica of a cuckoo clock that features five men, accompanied by a button box player, who dance, drink and engage the audience in their antics. The Glockenspiel was created by one of Milwaukee’s many German clubs, is a favorite of German Fest audiences and is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
Thursday: 6:00pm and 8:00pm

Sunday: 2:00pm, 4:00pm and 6:00pm

Harmonica Lessons for Kids
Hohner, Inc. USA is providing harmonica kits for children to learn how to play the harmonica. FREE classes will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the Cultural area (pre-registration is required). Visit the Culture Page for times and a downloadable registration form!
Walworth County - Honor County of Germanfest 2010
Visit the Pepsi Pavilion to learn more about Walworth County, German Fest’s 2010 Honor County! Walworth County was chosen for this honor primarily because of its close relationship to Waldeck-Frankenberg, its sister county in Germany. Waldeck-Frankenberg is located in the state of Hesse, the German partner state to Wisconsin, and will be recognized during the festival’s opening ceremony on July 22 at 6:30 p.m. Representatives from various tourism venues will provide information on what to do and see in the area. Some exhibitors will have items for sale, raffle prizes and giveaways. Bands and German clubs from their local school districts will participate in the parade on Saturday at 2 p.m. and other activities throughout the weekend.

Play Walworth County Bingo for prizes! Games will run throughout the day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, July 23-25. Cards are $1 ea.

Walworth County is located approximately 40 miles from Milwaukee and 65 miles from Chicago. One of its best known cities, Lake Geneva – referred to as the “Newport of the West” – has been a vacation destination for well over a century.
